Feng Shui tip for dog owners

The commanding position.

The commanding position is essential in Feng Shui. You are in a commanding position when you can see the entrance door, in other words, see who and what is coming. Not being in a commanding position, generates stress and anxiety and can create over controlling behaviors to compensate.

One essential area when you need to be in a commanding position is the bedroom, a place where you spend a lot of time sleeping, thus being in a Yin receptive state. The bed should be placed in a way that you can see the entrance door but not directly facing the door and not against the wall. If there is no space for this kind of set up, you can place a large mirror opposite the bed, which would allow you to see who and what is coming. You can also hang a bell to the door knob.

You, or any member of your family, as pet owner/s, should be in a commanding position but not your animal who should not be in charge and constantly on alert.

If your dog is restless and barks a lot, look at the placement of its bed.

  •     Except in the case of a guarding or a service dog, crates and beds should not be placed in a commanding position or in the mouth of qi (areas located directly in front of the entrance door of any room). They should be placed in a quiet place where the animal can relax. (it also applies for outdoor pens).
